Manga Submissions

One-Shot: Manga one-shots of between 20–60 pages. Completed pages are preferred, but we can accept a work-in-progress. Thumbnails are okay, but please also include an inked character design.

Manga Series (if an artist is not attached): At least a 10-page written script of the first chapter or pilot, along with a series summary and proposed series outline that describes the world you are building and how the story and characters develop as the series progresses.

Manga Series (if an artist is attached): At least 10 pages of sample black and white sequential manga illustrating a scene from your manga, along with a series summary and proposed series outline that describes the world you are building and how the story and characters develop as the series progresses.

In addition to the sample art pages, a great submission will also include:

• Story synopsis: Please provide a brief summary of the general story direction and atmosphere of your manga.
• Character descriptions: Remember, your characters will be the main draw for your manga! A description of the personality traits, skills and interests of the protagonist and main cast will help us understand the story and stakes.
• Character designs (if an artist is attached): Please include character designs for the main cast of your series. Iconic manga characters have strong character designs that make them memorable, easily recognisable, and even cosplayable!
• Target audience and comparable titles: Who are the readers you imagine would enjoy this story? What do they like to read? Take a look at other manga series and identify the elements that might appeal to readers of your own work.
• Creator Bios: Tell us about yourself! We like to get to know creators and their creative goals.
• Additional sample sequential work: Related to the submission or not, we’d like a sense of the work you’ve done previously – examples that demonstrate you are ready to achieve the visual aims of your manga.

I represent and warrant to B4 Manga that my submission is an original creation of mine, and if any other person is responsible for part of the submission, that person and their role is listed on the submission.

I understand that B4 Manga is not obligated to retain a copy of the submission, and I will not hold B4 Manga liable for loss or damage to a submission.

I understand that B4 Manga receives many submissions and cannot respond to every submission. If B4 Manga does not respond to the submission within 60 days, that means the submission was not accepted.

I understand that I am free to provide other publishers with my submission during the same period that B4 Manga is reviewing my submission.

I understand that my submission and the submission process will be governed by the laws of the State of Colorado and the United States, and I agree that any dispute between me and B4 Manga regarding the submission will be resolved through good faith discussion. If that does not work, then we will submit the dispute to arbitration in Denver, CO in accordance with the rules and regulations of the American Arbitration Association. In the event a dispute requires arbitration, the prevailing party shall be entitled to receive reimbursement from the non-prevailing party for all arbitration and other legal costs, expenses, and fees, in addition to any other recovery or award.
